Not a dry eye in the church!

Thank you to everyone who attended our Year 6 Leavers’ and Reception Joiners’ service in the church this morning.  It was an emotional, but lovely service where the Year 6 leavers were presented with their name tag from our values tree and a Bible from the church.  The Year 6s introduced our new Reception starters and helped them place their name at the bottom of the tree so they can start growing up through the school.  Mrs Rowe also presented the annual progress, diligence and achievement awards plus trophies for sporting progress, sporting achievement and music.

We were also able to perform our new school song for the first time: the music and lyrics were written by Mrs Tugwell and additional words were chosen by Orchard Class.  There is a verse which reflects each one of our values: these verses are interchangeable depending on each term’s value.  There was also a performance of “We are the Young” which we sang earlier in the year following our successful music workshop with opera singer, Mr Young.

Thanks to Friends of School for providing refreshments after the service back at school.

We shall really miss our Year 6s – they have been a fantastic group to teach and we wish them every success as they move on to their respective secondary schools.
